Biography

In 1993, after finishing an MA Fine Art program in England at the Manchester Polytechnic and spending another year at the MA programme at Chelsea school of Art & Design, I went back to Brasília and was cross appointed as an assistant professor in Fine Art and Art Education at the University of Brasilia. Since my background bridges these two domains, my interests have been focused in Contemporary Art, visual studies, Queer theory and cultural studies. Also, since 1994 I have been teaching and administrating courses in Practice Teaching for Primary and Secondary Schools. Currently, in the course of my PhD study at the University of British Columbia, I have been pursuing an understanding of how a shift from traditional theoretical models of spectatorship to a queer spectatorship might affect the teaching and learning of visual culture in higher education and possibly in Secondary education.
