Openings

Metaphorically, openings are not passive holes through which one passes easily but are cracks, tears or passages refusing comfort, predictability and safety. As living inquiry, a/r/tography is a process of opening texts to seek understanding by continuing to move through ideas before flowing back in response

Metaphorically, openings are not passive holes through which one passes easily but are cracks, tears or passages refusing comfort, predictability and safety. As living inquiry, a/r/tography is a process of opening texts to seek understanding by continuing to move through ideas before flowing back in response.

Openings also allow for encounters between artist/researcher/teachers and reader/viewers producing writerly rather than readerly texts where meaning is co-constructed rather than inherent in the image/performance. The intention is not to give information but to open up conversations and relationships with, through and in the company of others.

Exchanges between and among a/r/tographers and viewer/readers and image/performance/texts become active spaces, echoing and reverberating together.
