Diplomas > CSED Diploma Program (New beginning Summer 2005)

This Computing Studies Education Diploma Program provides an opportunity for teachers in formal (public and private K-12 schools) and informal (museums, centers, community-based institutions) educational venues to improve their understanding and practical implementation of the pedagogical uses of information and communication technologies (ICT) within face-to-face, mixed-mode, and online distance education settings. The program focuses on established and emerging ICT perspectives and practices for the purpose of both enhancing your knowledge of existing educational technology curriculum issues and developing new areas of inquiry specific to your interests and situation. The CSED Diploma Program has flexible requirements (30 post-baccalaureate credits) making it a viable alternative to the Masters program. The difference between the two is that in the Diploma Program you can apply 12 credits of senior level courses from other design and technical institutions, i.e., BCIT, Emily Carr.

The course of study includes:

  • Critical examination of using ICT for teaching and learning within formal and informal educational venues.
  • Research, development and design of curriculum and communication within virtual education learning environments (face-to-face, mixed-mode, and online distance education).
  • Design, development, and programming of educational learning management systems for educational administration.
  • Research and assessment of local, provincial, and national ICT curriculum policies and copyright laws.
