Biography

Dr. Hubball's research and practice focus on the scholarship of curriculum and pedagogy in higher education and active living/ sports contexts. He has published articles and has been invited to present research seminars and workshops at a wide range of national and International universities. Dr. Hubball has assisted OCAV, institutions, faculties and multidisciplinary units with analysis of needs; undergraduate degree program reform; curriculum development and re-design; assessment of learning outcomes; scholarly approaches to teaching, learning and curriculum practice; and implementing a variety of professional development workshops and innovative learning strategies for groups and individual faculty members.

In 1998, he developed the UBC Faculty Certificate Program on Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. Dr. Hubball is Co-Chair of this program.  Dr. Hubball is a recipient of a 3M National Teaching Fellowship and the UBC Killam Teaching Award. He is also the Convenor for the Multi-national Teaching Fellows Research Group within the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

Dr. Hubball has served on National Executive boards for the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) and the Canadian Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (CAHPERD).  He teaches undergraduates, graduate students and faculty members in courses such as: The Scholarship of Curriculum and Pedagogy Leadership in Higher Education; Health Promotion and Outdoor Education. In 1999, he developed the INTER UBC Soccer Academy Program for masters/veterans level players (2001-present) and grades 3 to 7 (1999-2004). He is Co-Chair of the Universities Masters/Veterans 6-a-side World Cup (12 Nations) Football Tournament and Symposium.
